As we expected at TheVanguard.Org, those who have been trumpeting the impending deal between the Bush Administration and Congressional Democrats for a high tax Social Security “fix” have proven to be dead wrong.
Needless to say, were the President to support such a thing, we would fight it. But he isn’t. And we’d be very surprised indeed if he did.
And that being said: conservatives are wise to be vigilant (as noted today, we were on the Harriet Miers debacle not long ago). But if they spent half the time attacking the real enemy they spend trying to gouge out the eyes of their friends, they’d have filibuster-proof majorities for the next several centuries.
