It is a sad thing indeed to have to note the passing of one of the greatest economists of our time, but more importantly, one of the most influential advocates for liberty who has ever lived.
Milton Friedman revolutionized economics, drove a stake through the heart of Keynesianism, and most of all, convinced millions of regular people he was right. He was that unique combination of brilliance and charisma around which movements are made, and he truly moved the world.
Steve Forbes has an excellent video tribute to Friedman here, which I hope you’ll watch. And if you haven’t already, pick up a copy of Friedman’s Capitalism and Freedom or Free to Choose. You can see very quickly how he changed the world: you can also see how much we have left to do, and how we ought to go about doing it. How better to honor such a giant of our times?
