Brit Hume on Fox News just reported moments ago a new report from the National Academy of Sciences which claims that pine forests are a leading contributor to global warming. Their solution? Cut them all down.
You just can’t make this stuff up.
The “brilliant” climate scientists in question believe that only tropical rain forests help with global warming (by absorbing carbon dioxide); pine forests, by contrast, just shield the ground from sunlight, thus preventing the snow from reflecting more of it back into space. Or something else stupid like that.
Not that it has to make sense. The end result of this lunacy would be a bunch of tree-huggers cutting down high altitude, old growth forests. And if we didn’t have to stop them from destroying the Earth to “save” it, that would be the funniest sight of the decade.
UPDATE: Thanks to NateDawg for fleshing out some of the details on this which I missed while laughing at these morons.
