The Rod Martin Report - Special Edition: Merry Christmas

Dear Friends,
Christmas is special for many reasons, but we must never forget the main one: Christ Himself.
A bit over 2,000 years ago, Jesus -- who is God and the Son of God, and by and through Whom all things were created -- chose to be born of a virgin, to live a sinless life, and to die a perfect sacrifice to pay the penalty that is required of all people who wrongfully rebel against their rightful king, whether that king be human or divine.
The result of this serving of my sentence is a reconciliation -- a payment in full for my wrongdoing -- that allows not only a pardon, a new start with the Lord our God, but the Father's adoption of us as His own sons and daughters. Christ is the firstborn of many brothers and sisters, all those who acknowledge their sinfulness, gratefully accept what He's done, and put their faith and trust in Him.
It is an incredibly special thing to be sons and daughters of the King of Kings. There is an intimacy to it that is as great as the majesty of God, and the awesomeness of the risen Savior, Who could not be bound by a tomb, and Who reigns this very day at the right hand of our Father.
As Linus would say, "that's what Christmas is all about, Charlie Brown."
Across the world, people -- many of whom don't even know any of what I just said -- celebrate Christmas with us today. It is my hope that they will come to know Him, to love Him and each other as He did and does, and by His grace thereby bring "peace, goodwill toward men."
Merry Christmas,
P.S. Below please find my Christmas column for yesterday's Florida Baptist Witness. I suspect you'll never have read anything quite like it.
