This IS the reason why I am struggling so much with church right now. I just couldn’t put my feelings into words. And this article does it PERFECTLY. So many church mission projects, and I could certainly be wrong, feel like an attempt to be seen as better than others. The more money thrown at a mission, the better you are. Churches do what I call “sterile giving”. So give money, donate food, but never interact with the real poor or the real mentally ill or the real drug-addicted. But do lecture me how I am not loving my neighbor enough. This article is a “keeper”. What would happen if I shared this with my progressive pastor? And what do I look for if I want to change churches?

King James, NKJV, ESV, NASB, NIV, the Geneva Bible, CSB, HCSB, Darby’s translation, the Catholic New American Bible, the New Catholic Bible, ASV, Amplified, Complete Jewish Bible, EHV, MEV, NET, NIRV, NRSV, NTFE, Orthodox Jewish Bible, RGT, RSV, The Voice…

I’m having trouble finding an English translation that doesn’t use the word “hate“.

At the bottom, progressives envy the blessings others have; they’re ungrateful for the blessings they’ve received, and they resent God for what He didn’t give them. They see the world in terms of what they lack, not in terms of what they have. Thus, they hate God’s providence and authority.

They have absolutized and globalized their victim mentality. They hate the ordo amoris because it directly opposes the entitlement mentality they’ve baptized.

Thabiti went from conservative theology and once producing sound books on ecclesiology to liberation theology and Marxist politics. All the while saying he has not changed. It's perplexing to me how someone does that.

Rod, there was a time when my Latin was very good, but too many years have passed since.

Even so, I know for a fact that "Ordo Amoris” does NOT mean “ordered loves.” It means "Order of Love" or "The order of the Love" (Latin has no articles, like "the " or "an", and one of many peculiarities of English is that while it does have articles, certain nouns, like Love, are only rarely preceded by the article "the". Anyway, the point is that "The order of love" much more accurately describes J.D.'s statement.

And yes, the tendency of Leftists to go slay dragons all over the world has had many bad effects. For example, the combined pressure of Leftists all over the world led to the surrender of South Africa to a black government. What we have not heard about since then is the massive deterioration of living conditions in that country because the new regime loves its fat salaries and benefits, but the infrastructure is failing because of its incompetent management. In recent years Johannesburg has had regular blackouts, a condition that virtually eliminates any chances of attracting new industries. Worst of all, there has been an epidemic of murderous attacks by roving gangs of black hoodlums on SA's farmers, who are being robbed, abused and murdered. And this is being praised and encouraged by those new politicians. Look up "Plaasmoorde"

"It takes a village" declared Clinton...right out of a century hell bent on reconstructing the Biblical and natural affections.

And the village has been gamed for at least $84M for the narcissistic love of a presiding crime syndicate.
