There are few more tragic spots on the Earth than Zimbabwe, where a racist white government which was, at least, competent was succeeded in 1980 by an incompetent black racist socialist kleptocracy.

Successive elites aside, Zimbabwe is a wonderful place, formerly thought of as “the breadbasket of Africa” until the current regime subjected it to regular famine, filled with natural resources and beauty and an industrious people of many races (formerly a lot more diversity than today). It could be a success story like unto Hong Kong. Instead, it’s a surreal freak show, with horrors at every turn.

Why? Call it Al Sharpton meets Karl Marx, on steroids. It ain’t Cambodia. But it ain’t that different either.
